Insane Twitter Apps

Twitter was undoubtedly one of last years biggest talking points and is used by millions of people around the world. The explosion in popularity of Twitter has lead to some weird and wonderful apps being developed and i thought i would share a few with you.

Foamee
This one is pure genius. It lets you track who owes you a drink. When you owe someone a beer, send a message to Foamee in the format “@ioubeer @twitterscreenname “reason beer is owed”. Your IOU will then show up on the Foamee homepage for all to see. Novel idea but im personally not particularly fussed about asking for drinks back.

Overheard.it
A very simple app/site that pulls in any tweets that mention the word ‘overhead’. Pretty pointless in all but brings back some really funny tweets.

TwitterLoo
Probably the weirdest app you will come across and lets you share your achievements in the bathroom with the whole world. You simply select the clip art image that best describes your beauty and then the place in which you delivered it. This information is then submitted to your twitter page. Pretty childish i know, but its quite fun.

Kvetch!
Pulls in tweets about people bitching about everything and anything. Users can then rate these tweets.

Cursebird
Site that streams tweets containing swear words. Completely pointless but there is definitely something about it. Been around for a while and if you have a few mins to kill its worth a read.

Cop Pull’s Gun On Snowball Fighter

This story certainly caught my attention on my way into work this morning as a Washington DC police officer brandished his firearm in the middle of a snow ball fight. The snow ball fight which was arranged on social network site Twitter involved the pelting of the undercover police officers hummer. Why a undercover cop is driving a hummer is beyond me as its hardly inconspicuous but anyway. As you can imagine the incident caused quite a stir but i was interested to see what commentary was going on about it online.

As the event was arranged on Twitter there was always going to be a handful of Tweets about it but there was also some interesting video footage and further images.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Video

Uncharted 2, I’m leaving you. I’m sorry, it’s just that I’ve found someone else. I’ve been fooling around with Modern Warfare 2 for a while now and I think things are starting to get serious. I hope we can still be friends. I’d really like to hang out every once in a while.

Of course Modern Warfare 2 kicks ass but like many i am already looking for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 details. The game is already in development and i came across this classic spoof from The Onion about game. Check out the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 video from those guys below.

David Makes His Come Back After Big Chip Awards

Today we (PushON) helped K3 launch the latest installment of their Factory series. Expectations for this episode have been pretty high after David recent appearance at the Big Chip Awards and some super cool new ideas are being used. We are very excited about the launch and have been Tweeting the episode url like mad this morning.

Manufacturing ERP System Case Study

Case studies are often an overlooked tactic in SEO however they can be used to great effect if implemented properly. I mean you only have to look at the number of SEO companies themselves using this tactic on their own sites. For example see how we achieved top rankings in three months etc. This is not only great for driving traffic but also provides reasons as to why customers should use you. Anyway the case study tactic is something we aim to play with in some form on the latest episode of The Factory for K3. This is different in the fact that it is a video case study. It is showing, in a humorous way how there product can be used in a manufacturing environment using a real life client. This is of course of great interest to potential buyers and is done in a fun and exciting way. The different with this example is that its done in a funny style that it appeals to a wider more general audience.

I think the new approach is going to open up some exciting opportunities for us as it gives a user a more specific reason as to why they should watch the video. Before we were using a range of social media tools and approaches based on the humour whereas the video case study will target people directly interested in manufacturing ERP systems. Before we were targeting specific interest groups but not providing a reason to watch which is as clear as this. It will of course only be able to be deployed in some locations but I think we will be able to improve the already great conversion rate.

The latest episode which will be used for the case study was launched today and is entitled ‘David’s Management Fail! Manufacturing ERP System Success (The Factory Eps 4)’. You can see the video below but for full length episodes you will need to head over to the Factory mini site.

Is Your Boss As Good As This Guy?

Ok so i have been a bit slack on the old updates recently and as you can see the last time i posted was when the first episode of the Factory came out. Well its been that long that now the next episode has been released.

The new episode shows David pay a visit to Astute technologies to learn more about ERP systems. This one i feel is a big improvement on the last video and its short and humorous style should help it attract the right audiences. With that in mind its also worth mentioning that the last video did very well in terms of achieving sign ups, gaining some search engine exposure and building links. I thought it was pretty impressive considering the dry subject matter

The Animals Behind SEO Superstars

SEO’s love animals! It’s as simple as that. I have recently been extending the number of people and blogs that I have been following in the world of the t’internet and I couldn’t help but noticed how many SEO’s and Internet marketers are affiliated to animals in some way. There are many guilty parties out there. I would probably say Matt Cutts is the guiltiest of them all but here they are with there beloved ones.

	Matt Cutt’s of course has a cat called Ozzie which regularly interrupts his work and figures heavily on his blog. Very cute cat.
	The genius that is Micheal Gray is of course known as the graywolf. Im not sure why so if you do drop us a line.
	Julia Roy has two kittens called Mac and Tosh. Do we think she’s a mac fan by any chance? Good looking and great taste. Can’t say fairer than that.
	Dean Hunt and his killer bunnies finish off the list nicely. I was fortunate enough to meet Dean recently and I have to say his bunnies certainly put him at top of the list for UK buzz marketers.

I would like to say that I have a pet or an alter ego but unfortunately I don’t. Well not here in Manchester anyway. Every great SEO should have a pet I feel. I will leave you with a pic of my pet dog Max who is back in Stafford.

After writing for numerous different websites and blogs over the years i felt it was about time that i got my own blog so that i could share my thoughts and visions with the world. As an SEO consultant i regularly read blogs however i have become a little frustrated with the repetition of standard industry news so thought i would try and bring you something a little different. After all internet marketing and SEO should be exciting.

In this blog i intend to bring you some of the latest internet marketing tips based on my experiences. I will also update you on my works and share my views on things that have been happening in the world of SEO. I occasionally come up with some crazy ideas so will probably share them with you and get your thoughts.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog! I better get off and write my first blog now i suppose.
